ACRES - SINGLE

Written by Logan Farmer

Produced by Radical Face in Jacksonville, FL

LYRICS

I walk the twelve acres to the mill
Where water’s held sacred and mornings are still
I spend nights with Maurice
He knew a thing or two about God
I been tortured, I been teased
But never to that dark side of Love.

I write out some letters to send to the farm
Where mother still withers, and dad is still gone
I smoke a bit of that strong stuff
Til I start speaking in tongues
I sip a bit of that pruno wine
It’ll take me to that dark side of Love.

I walk the twelve acres to the end
Where lust turns to vapor and dissolves on my skin
And then the sky is torn open
I hear trumpets from above
My heart’s thumping hallelujah
And I descend into the dark side of Love
I descend into the dark side of Love
I descend into the dark.

So after about a year of arduous writing and re-writing, recording and re-recording, Clementinum is here. I’m not sure if it’s long enough to earn full length status, but I’m still very pleased with how it turned out. An immense thank you to all who were involved.

Head over to bandcamp for a free download, or if you’d like you can donate a few dollars to fund my next project.

I’ll have other big news soon, but until then it’s very nice to see you all.

April: I want you to know that I never left. And I want you to know that time never changes. Nothing ever moves except you. And I want you to know that when you died, you didn’t really die: Everything died around you.

O Holy Fear DEMO Tobacco Pat

O Holy Fear (Rough Demo)

Hi friends. I have a few things going on right now that you may be interested in.

Firstly, I’ve started writing again for another new album. As you can probably tell, all of my songs have been pretty biblical and storylike lately, and this new record will reflect that and hopefully put an end to this phase. I’ve been studying a lot of weird spiritual books and religious texts this year so I guess it all finally caught up to me (I also blame Brothers Karamazov). This time I plan on recording in a real studio for once, and I hope to get some strings on a few tracks. In fact, I’m determined to.

In other news, I’m going to start pressing limited copies of God Moves On The Water very very soon. Most likely in August. They’ll come in nice little cardboard wallets and will be free at a few shows. I’m mostly doing this so I can have something nice to send to labels, magazines, blogs, etc, but I’m sure I’ll have plenty left over to hand out.

There are a few more things that I’ve been thinking about for a while, but I’ll wait to mention them in the next post. One more thing, my next show is at Burro Bar on Friday, August 26th. I’m playing with Adam Balbo and a few other extremely talented songwriters. It’s going to be a good one.

Until then, listen to a rough demo of a song I wrote a few days ago, called O Holy Fear.

Does Israel mourn in exile here?

Don’t rejoice for me brother, I’m stricken with a holy fear

Mount Moriah DEMO Tobacco Pat

Mount Moriah (Rough Demo)

It was there on Mount Moriah

When Abraham was drunk

His son was bound with wire

His throat was cut

And Yahweh he called out to him

As the skies were torn apart

Said “my boy I am impressed with you,

For your lack of heart”

Underbelly is Moving

image

So my favorite venue in Jacksonville is closing up and moving to a new (and improved) location this fall, and to celebrate this joyous occasion my friends at Underbelly have arranged a two-day celebration show this weekend. I’ll be playing on Friday and a Facebook event page is Here. Exciting!

In other news, I’ve begun writing new material and plan to press copies of God Moves On The Water as soon as my situation allows.

Tobacco Pat’s (a.k.a. Logan Farmer) music unfolds itself like a James Joyce novel. It’s thick and heavy. It’s full of allusions, misdirection, religious themes, and moral contemplation. There’s so much packed into every song that every listen becomes more than just entertainment. It becomes an experience and journey.
